How to Use SNAP at the Market

When you use your SNAP EBT card at the Andover Farmers Market, you can buy eligible food items and receive a Market Match of up to $25 per market day.

Here’s how to get started:

  • Step 1: Visit the Information Table when you arrive.

  • Step 2: Swipe your EBT card for the amount you’d like to spend.

  • Step 3: The market will match your SNAP dollars up to $25.

    • Spend $10 → Get $20

    • Spend $20 → Get $40

    • Spend $25 → Get $50

You’ll receive tokens for both your SNAP purchase and your matching dollars. Tokens can be used at all SNAP-eligible vendor tents. Look for SNAP signage throughout the market.

What Is HIP? More Free Fruits and Vegetables for SNAP Customers

If you have SNAP benefits, you’re already enrolled in the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP). This extra benefit helps you buy even more fresh, local fruits and vegetables without using your SNAP balance.

Here’s how it works at the Andover Farmers Market:

  • Shop at Farmer Dave’s stand, the market’s approved HIP vendor.

  • Pick out fresh fruits and vegetables.

  • Swipe your EBT card and tell the vendor you’d like to use your HIP dollars.

  • The cost is immediately refunded to your EBT card — it doesn’t come out of your SNAP balance.

As long as you have funds left in your SNAP account and haven’t used your monthly HIP limit, it’s like getting fresh produce for free.

Also accepting Sun Bucks

SUN Bucks is a federal food benefit that helps low-income families with school-aged children buy groceries when schools are closed for the summer. SUN Bucks provides $40 a month to qualified students for the three summer months. The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) will issue a one-time payment of $120 to eligible students. The Andover Farmers Market will accept and match SUN Bucks at the SNAP information tent at the market.
