Michael, Senior in Plumbing at GLTS

After going through all the shop options at school, I realized how natural plumbing work came to me. I decided to pursue my vocation further and as of now I have been doing plumbing for 3 whole years! Aside from just plumbing, I also play basketball. Between the two, I have a good idea of what I want to do following graduation this spring. I’ve already been accepted into two colleges for basketball!

While plumbing work does come easy to me, there are always a few road bumps along the way. Doing the piping work in the basement was a difficult task, especially because it was my first time using the crimp gun. Everything about the piping had to be perfect and straight leveled. It was difficult for sure, but it came out great.

Pipe work, soldering and crimping are my favorite aspects of plumbing. Right now the plumbing team from GLTS is working on the finish plumbing, which are the tasks we complete after the floors, cabinets and tiling work are finished. This includes the sinks, toilets, drain connections and even some of the fixtures. Today we worked on finishing the bathtub.

The results speak for themselves. I’m a part of something that is going to benefit members of the community, how awesome is that? Not only do I enjoy working on this project, but knowing I’ve worked on a house people are going to live in makes me so proud.
