Diverse Voices

Diverse Voices is an in-person community-focused event featuring artistic expression and conversations on affordable housing, food insecurity, youth, and health and wellness with Haverhill, Lawrence, Methuen, Andover and North Andover to be held at Greater Lawrence Technical School. 

Diverse Voices will bring together people representing the diversity of ethnicities, languages and culture. The program will offer multiple forms of artistic expression, including vocal and instrumental music, dance, painting, poetry and written word alongside breakout sessions for dialogue.

The following is a preliminary agenda that is subject to change.

2:00 p.m. - Session #1: Community Health and Wellness Conversation

  • Opening Remarks - Dr. Guy Fish, Greater Lawrence Family Health Clinic - legacy of structural and systemic racism and inequities based on historical policies

  • Erica Hernandez - ACT Lawrence, affordable housing

  • Dariana Guerrero - Groundwork Lawrence, food insecurity

  • Jeffrey Thomas - Mandela Yoga Project, lack of access to health care/trauma-informed movement therapy

  • Loida Love Dominguez - InPower Love Coaching, emotional wellness

Concurrently:

  • Youth Workshop: led by Emotional Wellness Coach, Abria Wynn, in partnership with Elevated Thought and the Merrimack Valley Black & Brown Voices

  • Song and dance, Chinese Language School

  • Song and dance, Chinmaya Temple

3:00 p.m. - Session #2: Community Health and Wellness Introduction of alternative therapies that promote health and wellness

  • Movement Therapy - Mandela Yoga Project - peer led system of free yoga designed to address stress, racial trauma, and chronic health conditions in public health crisis communities.

  • Music Therapy - Berklee College of Music - music as a health care tool with simple tips on how to incorporate music into daily life

  • Sound Healing - emotional wellness coach, Abria Wynn, leading as second part of Youth Workshop

Concurrently:

  • Dariana Guerrero - Spoken Word performance, Loida Love Dominguez - Singer/songwriter performing with son, Nicholas and other performers

4:00 p.m. Concert with the Andover Choral Society and other choral groups
